Applications / Air Purification
Industrial VOC control or air purifier? Different specs entirely.

| Scenario | Requirement | Recommended | Key Spec |
|---|---|---|---|
| Industrial off-gas / VOC treatment | Benzene-series & organic vapor removal | Gas-phase adsorption carbon | Iodine ≥1000, benzene adsorption ≥450 |
| Air purifier / protection carbon | Formaldehyde, odor, harmful gas | Granular / pellet carbon | Iodine ≥1000, high CTC activity |
| Spray / chemical workshop odor | Pressure-tolerant, fixed-bed fill | High-hardness granular carbon | Hardness ≥98 |
For benzene, toluene, xylene, formaldehyde and other organic gases, use high-iodine (≥1000) and high benzene-adsorption (≥450) coconut carbon, filled in fixed-bed adsorbers.
For household purifiers and gas-phase protection canisters, look at iodine and CTC activity; choose granular or pellet by the equipment structure.
Organic-vapor adsorption capacity; ≥1000 is the premium gas-phase grade.
Benzene-series removal efficiency; ≥450 mg/g is the benchmark.
Carbon tetrachloride value — measures gas-phase adsorption capacity; higher is better.
Crush-resistance in fixed beds; ≥98%.
| Your Situation | Recommended | Product |
|---|---|---|
| Industrial off-gas / VOC treatment | Air purification carbon (iodine ≥1000, benzene ≥450) | Air Purification Activated Carbon |
| Air purifier / protection carbon | Air purification carbon (granular/pellet, by equipment) | Air Purification Activated Carbon |
| Spray / chemical workshop odor | Air purification carbon (high-hardness ≥98) | Air Purification Activated Carbon |
Benzene adsorption (≥450 mg/g) and iodine value (≥1000) reflect gas-phase adsorption capacity; CTC value further grades adsorption for organic vapours.
Both are gas-phase, but the demands differ — industrial fixed beds need crush resistance (hardness ≥98%), while purifier fills prioritise adsorption capacity and equipment fit. Choose granular or pellet by the equipment structure.
CTC (carbon tetrachloride value) measures gas-phase adsorption capacity; a higher CTC means more organic vapour held per unit of carbon.
It depends on contaminant load and operating conditions — when breakthrough is detected, the carbon is replaced or regenerated. Monitoring the treated air tells you when.
